EMDR Intensives

What is EMDR?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a gentle and effective therapy that helps your mind and body heal from difficult or overwhelming experiences. Instead of staying stuck in painful memories or feelings, EMDR helps your brain process them in a new way so they no longer feel as heavy or triggering. Many people find that EMDR brings a sense of relief, calm, and freedom—allowing them to move forward with greater ease, confidence, and hope.

Accelerated therapy. Compassionate care. Real change.

If you’re feeling stuck or weighed down by past experiences, EMDR intensives give you the time and space to heal more deeply and quickly. Instead of waiting week to week, intensives allow us to spend extended time together so you can make meaningful progress in a safe, supportive environment. This focused approach can help you move through what’s been holding you back and create lasting change.

Why do an EMDR intensive?

An EMDR intensive can be a powerful choice if you don’t want to wait months to feel relief. By spending longer, focused time together, you’re able to process more in a few days than in weeks of traditional therapy. Intensives are especially helpful if you’re feeling stuck, going through a major life transition, or simply want faster, lasting results in a safe and supportive space.

FAQs

What is an EMDR intensive?

An EMDR intensive is an extended therapy session (3 hours with a short break) that allows us to dive deeper into your healing without the interruptions of weekly sessions. This focused format can help you make meaningful progress in a shorter amount of time.

Why choose an EMDR intensive instead (or in addition) of weekly sessions?

Weekly therapy can be helpful AND progress may feel slow at times. Intensives allow you to process more in one day than you might in weeks of traditional therapy. They are especially beneficial if you’re feeling stuck, navigating a major transition, or wanting to move through trauma more efficiently. Here are Mountain View, we actually encourage you to do both and will happily work with you individually or with your already assigned individual therapist.

Is an EMDR intensive right for everyone?

Not always. While EMDR intensives can be very effective, they aren’t the best fit for every client. Some people may need a slower, more gradual pace depending on their trauma history, current support system, or emotional stability. Before scheduling, we’ll complete an assessment to make sure an intensive is safe and appropriate for you. If it’s not the right time, we’ll talk through other options to support your healing.

How long is each intensive?

Each EMDR intensive is 3 hours long with a built-in break. Some clients schedule a single intensive, while others choose a series of sessions for continued progress.

How much does it cost?

3-hour intensive: $600

  1. Package of 3 intensives (9 hours total): $1,650 (saves $150)

  2. Package of 6 intensives (18 hours total): $3,200 (saves $400)

Can I use insurance?

Intensives are not covered by insurance and are considered an out-of-pocket service. That is due to the fact that there are limits on times that insurances with reimburse the service. We recommend checking directly with your plan for details. We will have you sign an insurance opt-out form when beginning sessions for EMDR intensives specifically.

Do I need to be an existing client to schedule an intensive?

No — EMDR intensives are available both to current clients and new clients who are interested in a focused, short-term approach to therapy.

How do I know if an intensive is right for me?

If you’re motivated to address challenges quickly, want relief without waiting months, or feel like traditional therapy hasn’t been moving fast enough, an EMDR intensive may be a good fit. We’ll start with a consultation to make sure this approach meets your needs.
